I'm back!!!!!!

Hello, it's me I'm back! I have had a LOT of stuff going on since my last post. So I finished my Msc and graduated with a distinction. I then avoided being on call at Christmas 2010 by getting myself pregnant!!! Well hubby had a fair amount to do with that too. So along came baby and I nabbed myself a cheeky nine months holiday, I mean maternity leave! I'll save the story of Sophie's arrival for another post as it deserves it's own slot so to speak. Sadly I lost my lovely Dad to the awful Alzheimer's in June this year. I don't know if I can post about that yet. Life is fairly good most of the time although there are big changes going on in work and that can be quite stressful. I have reopened the blog on the behest of Bottle Babies, who I admire greatly. If you don't know them check out their Facebook page. They support mothers who formula feed for a variety of reasons and give advice on how to combat the BF bullies. Believe me there are a lot of people who love to demonise us FF mums. The other blog I love is the Fearless Formula Feeder. She is awesome:) so any new readers from either of those two sites are very welcome.

My blog My rules

I do believe its my blog and therefore my own rules as to what I put. Some of you may have noticed some deleted content on some older posts. This is because somebody decided to read a little bit too much into what I wrote. I have now hopefully privatized this blog and just to make sure, deleted the comments that may have been interpreted in a certain way.
I will be back properly after I hand in my Msc project in September., Doing really well. Sorry short post to the point and if you are the person who printed out my previous posts to grind a few axes then bugger off you are not welcome here.

Back from the brain dead!

Hello fellow bloggers. Well I have a few minutes spare before I set off on yet another academic year so I thought I'd drop in on my poor neglected blog page to tell you all how I am doing. The last post was all about good marks I recall, well let me just tell you that I totally surprised myself when I got my transcript from college. This is old news to anyone who knows me but I feel the need to just brag a bit more!!
So I passed my first year of my Msc. In fact I totally aced my first year with a total score of 75.5% and a fantastic 85 % in my 5000 word lit review. I also won a joint prize for said review for an outstanding piece of work.
So I was a bit swollen headed about that for a good few many months, Oh its not easy being brilliant!!!
The sad news is that the one person I would so like to tell, and who would be over the moon with my progress, doesn't have a clue who I am or what the whole Msc is about. My Dad is no longer at home. My angel of a mother was told that she could no longer care for him at home and so he would have to go into a home. He has settled in quite well, but it is not something we thought would happen for a long time, if at all.
My daughter is now five and is starting her second school year. She is ever so grown up now, and rather bossy.
Thanks for all your positive comments. By the way Lehana, the Cdiff song never got much past what I wrote. I can't email you but here it is if you are passing.

Pseudomembranous colitis makes your arse atrocious,
Even when on therapy, your bowels will get necrosis,
If it is not treated it will become quite ferocious,
Pseudomembranous colitis makes your arse atrocious;
Bum drippy, bum drippy bum drippy aye.

Hope it makes you giggle love Bex:)

Clever Moi??

Hello its me again, I'm just writing an itsy bitsy note because I can't currently log in to my student account and I have a couple of minutes to spare. Anyway I also got a couple of marks back from college last week and I'm really pleased with my progress. The lowest mark I have had so far is 65% and I aced my epidemiology with a whopping 88%! All the rest have been 70% so I am working really hard now to finish on a high.
I just need more than 75% in my last DABS coursework to notch that subject up to a distinction.
My Literature review is nearly done and I got good feedback from my tutor. The only thing left to struggle with is my project proposal, which is a bit of a blighter!
Dad was home today from respite, He wasn't in the mood to talk on the phone to me. He thought I was my Brother
Sorry for the short post
Byeeee

I'm Back!!

Yippee I finally got that latest pesky piece of course work done and handed in. I have now just a massive 5000 words literature review, a presentation on the application of medical microbiology to diagnosis, and my Msc project proposal to finish and then I'm done for this academic year. So not much left harhar! I'm getting good marks which makes the workload easier to bear.
I have been so busy with the course that I haven't had a minute to blog, plus I found out about facebook which is mega addictive so any spare computing time I have been messing about on there. Thankyou both for your lovely encouraging comments on carry on camping. It was a fun holiday despite the weather and we fully intend to repeat the experience this year,(not with the rain I hope!) We did manage to get a proper holiday for a couple of days when we went to Disneyland Paris in November and had a wicked but absolutely freezing time. Now we have no money its back to life under canvas!
Sad to see in the news the wind down of the hunt for little Maddy Mcann, I still pray for her and hope that whatever fate she has suffered she is at peace now. It breaks my heart to say this but I believe she is probably dead and to be honest I hope she is not alive and suffering at the hands of sick paedophiles. I think we all have to learn from this horrible situation and hope her family can find peace too.
Life in the madcap family isn't all that great at the moment, my Father is suffering from Alzheimers and has been taken off the medication that was giving him some semblence of normal brain function. It wasn't doing any good and was possibly heightening his anxiety so the doctors felt that it was time to stop. The trouble is that now we are seeing the true picture of life in Dad's brain. He barely knows any of us properly and has no concentration at all. My brother has stopped coming home entirely because I guess he feels that he either makes Dad worse or that he just doesn't want to face it. My Mum is coping really well but I can see how hard it is for her. She gets some respite every four weeks when he goes into a EMI unit to give her a two week break. Last weekend was bad and I am ashamed to say that it took its toll on me and I cried in front of my daughter, something I promised myself I wouldn't do.
Still best not to be too maudlin about it. We tend to find funny things in spite of all the heartache and are able to laugh about them.
Work is a bit shit because my last best filth comrade debunked to a different hospital and I miss him desperately. It was bad enough when Donna left. So if you ever read this Iain just know that whatever you do and wherever you are you still have a filthy friend in me! He is obviously missing us too though coz we are all going out soon for drinks. Oh you can leave us but we never truly let you go! Same goes for you too Donna!
Anyway time to crack on Best wishes jolly readers if you haven't given up on me. I fully intend to write a novel you know!!!!

carry on camping!!

Ok I know I've not posted for a long time but I've been really busy.

i'm not sure I'll have time for all this blogging now because I've just gone back to university to start an Msc. I have been trawling through the internet today looking for interesting stuff to write dissertations and projects about and now I feel the need to stop for a bit and do something fun.

So we could all do with a laugh so why don't I tell you about my wonderful camping holiday!

I have to admit that I was warned by lots of people that life under canvas in Great Britain wasn't exactly a barrel of laughs. That was putting it mildly! I think that the gorgeous Husband and I must have chosen possibly the wettest week of the holidays to go camping. It was the week that everybody in Gloucestershire got waterlogged. We had narrowly missed being stranded on the M5 and managed to reach our destination (Newquay) on a beautiful sunny day in July. We pitched our lovely 8 man tent and then helped our campsite mates pitch theirs. We woke up to drizzle, downpours and gales. We also found out that our lovely 8 man tent (brand new) was leaking. The weekend passed with alternate days of rain and sunshine and I thought Oh well it could be worse. It got worse.

We travelled to our next camp site, just us and the daughter now as everyone else had dry homes to go to! We pitched up on a lovely but breezy day. The next morning it was chucking down and the tent was still leaking. We went to a local Cornish theme park and got absolutely soaked, just for a change. I had Harry Potter to keep me from complaining too much and so my lovely Husband had some peace! I finished Harry Potter and looked to the skies for some improvement. There wasn't any. We had a good day on the beach, followed by an atrocious one at the Eden project (not for bored kids) the tent blew in, knocked over the cooker unit, snagged on it and ripped. The next day we awoke to a collapsed porch and both zips undone with the gale blowing right through the tent.

At this point I'd had enough and so whilst packing up made sure that a pole broke so we couldn't carry on!!

Actually it nearly took my head off.

We ended up drying out at the Brother in law's house and the weather improved. We bought another tent? (we got a refund for the first)

He wants to try again next year? I think we must be mad.

Sad and Frustrated

The News of little Madeline MCann, missing since 03/05/2007, has left me feeling shocked and saddened. My daughter is only a few months younger than this beautiful little angel and I feel desperately sorry for her family to be going through such hell. Please can anyone who reads this, go to sky news pages and download the internet poster and send it to everyone they know. Or add pictures to their own blogs. We must all keep Maddy in our thoughts and prayers and try to persuade the media not to let go of this story but to keep her image in the press until she is found.
I cannot imagine what the MCann family must be going through but I have been checking on my daughter asleep in her room so often I'm surprised she hasn't woken up.
Please everybody just don't forget her.
